McTimoney Chiropractic Method

McTimoney Chiropractic is a gentle and effective technique used to restore the body into its natural state of health.
The patient’s whole body, general well-being and quality of life, and not just structural misalignments, are assessed and reviewed. X-rays are not routinely used as McTimoney Chiropractors rely on their finely tuned sense of touch to palpate subluxations in the body.
The objective is to relieve pain and discomfort while increasing mobility through the application of a series of fast, low-force adjustments to the specific misaligned areas of the body. The adjustments are comfortable for the patients’ to receive, which ensures McTimoney is suited to all ages, from the very young to the elderly.
Additionally, McTimoney Chiropractors will always give postural and any other necessary advice to help adjustments hold and to minimise the risk of recurrences of any presenting problems.
The following are some of the symptoms that can benefit from Chiropractic treatment:
• Acute low back pain
• Chronic low back pain
• Acute neck pain
• Chronic neck pain
• Migraine
• Headaches
• Extremity joint conditions

There are also natural benefits that may occur with McTimoney Chiropractic:

• Better immune system
• Better nervous system function
• More energy and productivity
• Better overall natural vitality

What to expect during a treatment

A full case history is taken. This is a detailed description of current presenting symptoms, including previous complaints, family history, your job or hobbies in relation to posture, other forms of care you have received (medical, nutritional, massage, osteopathic) and other questions to help determine the nature of the presenting complaint.

Permission will be sought to carry out a physical examination (this will include neurological and orthopaedic tests if necessary)

Before the treatment starts, an explanation will be given of what was found in the examination and discuss the proposed treatment plan.
