Peter Mierkowski is a qualified Psychologist with over ten years experience of providing psychotherapy and counselling to individuals and couples. He holds a Diploma in Counselling from the Gestalt Centre, London and has completed requirements for their PG Diploma in Psychotherapy. Currently, he is in the final phase of a Masters Degree in Psychotherapy, leading to registration with UKCP.

Peter brings to his practice a wide experience of working with people from a variety of cultural and social settings. He has worked extensively with clients for whom UK became their second home as well as gay and lesbian clients.

Peter works regularly with counselling trainees, artists and people, who want to define their identity, find more satisfying and creative ways of expression while faced with changes and searching for meaning in their lives.

As a Gestalt Therapist, he is dedicated to the dialogical approach that in his view best addresses human nature – "in its ground of connectedness as well as its figure of separateness". His particular interest lies in exploration of the person's relationship with self and other, and in enhancing their relational ability.

Peter works in a gentle and invitational way, providing safety and support that nurtures his client's authentic self, facilitates self-expression and creativity, and increases capacity for intimacy with others. As a Gestalt Therapist, he is open to influences from other disciplines, in particular Object Relations theory, Self Psychology and Buddhism. His clinical practice is also inspired by a wider field of art and movement.

He offers brief, time-conscious and long-term counselling. He has extensive experience of working with individuals as well as couples, whatever their sexual orientation. He also offers personal development and therapy group facilitation. Sessions can also be held in Polish.

Peter practices at The Harley Street Therapy Centre (London W1), The Gestalt Centre (London EC2) and in Stevenage & Hitchin (Hertfordshire).
